About the Buildings

The main building is a 30x42 foot structure with 2 levels. This provides 1260 square feet per level. It is constructed to look like a traditional barn, complete with prow and copola above. This not only keeps with the traditional charm and wildness of the place, but also keeps taxes at a bare minimum (much less than other places around here). The main floor houses a shop in the front, with living area behind (kitchen, great room, plus bathroom, pantry, utility room). The upper portion is divided into 2 large bedrooms/living areas. There are a total of 8 skylights for natural light transmission. There is also an attached 12x42 carport. As well as a deck off of the back.
This entire structure is essentially finished. The hard parts are mostly done. It just needs minor cosmetic finishing work. Finishing work is going forward on it all the time. So for the right person, this is a great opportunity. The price reflects this, so if you are willing to put some mostly "sweat equity" into this project, you'll end up with a place far more valuable than what you paid for. Plus, you'll have the satisfaction of being able to choose the type of finish you want.
The outbuildings consist of a sheep barn constructed with a framework of logs, the rest with log rounds (cordwood construction technique). This is unfinished. I have most or all of the round material. I simply haven't completed this yet. When finished, this will be a very handsome, traditional looking building. Next, there is a very good sized chicken house with a huge enclosed yard. Also another chicken house type building. We have used it for chickens, ducks, and turkeys. This also has a very big enclosed yard, for security. I am currently constructing a goat barn on one of the upper landings above our place. It also has a large fenced area for a herd of goats to pasture (there are a total of 4 separate, fenced pasture areas, which we have spent years cleaning, fencing and attending to).
My last completed out building was a custom green house. It is our pride and joy as gardeners. In it we grew a huge supply of tomatoes and peppers this year. Not bad for our elevation!
In all, we have 6 outbuildings plus our main house/shop. There are 2 nice level building sights for a custom home, should the new owners decided to construct one. However, the main building is quite liveable--we've been living quite comfortably in it for years. It just needs finished.
All in all, the 7 buildings on the property provide for a lot of versatility. Whether the raising of animals, as we do, or for other purposes. Plus there is a pond which only needs the lining, a huge fenced garden (many years of building up the soil with nitrogen dense chicken, sheep and goat manure), many rock raised beds, a separate herb garden, a fenced orchard with 7 established fruit trees, raspberry and blueberry plants, many perennials, and lots of water to grow lots of stuff!
